Description

Sleeping eight hours and still waking up tired? Snapping at people you actually love?

Sometimes the problem isn't just sleep. Stress & cortisol may be part of the picture.

Meet Ashwagandha Powder, the whole ground root of Withania somnifera, the herb your dadi calls asgand/asgand nagori and Ayurveda has called a rasayana for three thousand years. The name "Ashwagandha" comes from Sanskrit and translates to "horse’s smell", not only referencing its distinct aroma but also symbolizing the belief that it imparts the strength and stamina of a horse.

Beside it, two more roots that earned their place. Black Maca from the high Peruvian Andes, the darkest and rarest of the maca varieties, prized for centuries for vitality, drive and endurance. And unsweetened Cocoa, naturally rich in magnesium and antioxidants, which turns a herb you used to force down into something you'll look forward to.

Traditionally used in Ayurvedic practice as part of a balanced diet and daily wellness routine

Ingredients

Ashwagandha Root (Withania somnifera) Withanolides, the steroidal lactones behind almost every clinical study on this herb, alongside sitoindosides and alkaloids that an isolated capsule extract leaves behind. Traditionally used to calm the mind, support the adrenals, steady energy through the day and help the body cope with pressure.

Black Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii)
Traditionally used for centuries to support vitality, drive, endurance and fertility. Of the three maca colours, black is the variety linked in research to sperm production & physical performance

Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (Theobroma cacao)
Unsweetened cocoa is one of the richest food sources of magnesium along with iron & flavanol antioxidants. It also carries theobromine, cocoa's gentler cousin to caffeine, which is the reason chocolate has always lifted the mood a little.

May contain traces of sesame, soy and tree nuts.

Benefits

Supports Your Adrenals To Reduce Stress & Anxiety

Ashwagandha works on the adrenal glands, that decide how much cortisol floods your system and when. In one of the most cited studies on this herb, adults under chronic stress saw their cortisol levels fall by close to a third over two months. Less cortisol is less edge, less bracing, less snapping at people.

Deeper Sleep & Better Nights
Some research suggests Ashwagandha helps with sleep quality, sleep onset and overall sleep duration. In trials on adults struggling with sleep, people fell asleep faster and spent more of their night actually asleep rather than turning over.

Increases Energy, Stamina & Endurance
Ashwagandha has been shown to improve heart and lung capacity in active adults, supporting endurance & recovery after effort. Black Maca, it's the maca variety most studied for physical performance.

Supports Male Vitality, Strength & Drive
Ashwagandha has been studied alongside resistance training for muscle strength, recovery and healthy testosterone in men. Black Maca is the variety Peruvian researchers have most associated with sperm production & reproductive health.

Helps Break The Stress-Eating Cycle
High cortisol drives cravings. In a six-month study, people taking ashwagandha root reported less stress, fewer food cravings and lower cortisol together.

Sharper Focus & A Clearer Head
Cortisol doesn't only wreck your sleep, it fogs your recall. Studies on ashwagandha root report improvements in memory, attention and reaction time over eight weeks or so. Black Maca is the maca variety linked to learning and memory in research too.

How to Use

Scoop It
Suggested serving: 5g (approximately 1 tablespoon) once daily.

New users: start with ½ teaspoon and gradually increase to the full serving over a week or two.

Mix It Your Way
Stir it into water, juice, smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, or your favourite shake until well combined.

Make It a Daily Habit
Once a day, every day. Consistency is the whole game here.

A Little Heads-Up
Always with food or in milk, never on an empty stomach.

Night if it makes you sleepy, morning if it doesn't. Warm milk with honey at night is the traditional way here, and it's also the best-tasting.

FAQ’s

Why is there cocoa and maca in my ashwagandha?

Cocoa fixes the bitterness. Black maca is malty and slightly butterscotch, which rounds out what the cocoa doesn't cover, and it happens to be the maca variety most studied for energy and stamina.

How much do I actually take?

Never on an empty stomach. Start with ½ teaspoon a day for the first week. Build up to 1 tablespoon (about 5 g) if you're doing fine on it. Don't start at a tablespoon on day one, that's where the loose motions come from. Always with food, or mixed into milk.

Morning or night?

Both work. Pick by what you want from it. Night, in warm milk, if the problem is falling asleep or a mind that won't switch off. Morning if the problem is a short fuse and a 4 PM crash. If it makes you drowsy, it's a night herb for you. Listen to that.

Does it have caffeine? Will it keep me awake?

There's about 1 mg per serving, from the cocoa, roughly a fiftieth of a cup of chai, plus a small amount of theobromine, cocoa's gentler cousin. It won't keep you awake. But since there's cocoa in the pouch we're not going to call it caffeine-free, and if you've been told to avoid caffeine entirely, now you know it's in there.

How long before I feel anything?

Don't expect a dramatic switch after one scoop. Some people notice changes in sleep within the first few weeks, while studies looking at stress, mood and other outcomes often run for 8–12 weeks. Everyone responds differently, and this is a daily wellness product, not an instant fix.

Why do capsules say 600mg and you say 5 grams?

Because 600mg of an extract and 600mg of raw root powder aren't necessarily equivalent. Extracts can be concentrated, while this product uses ground Ashwagandha root. So don't compare the number on a capsule bottle directly with the grams on this pouch. Neither one is cheating.

What does it actually taste like?

Better than plain ashwagandha, which isn't a high bar. On its own the root is bitter and earthy with a smell that gives it its name, ashwa, horse; gandha, smell. The cocoa and maca take most of that edge off. Warm milk, a teaspoon of honey and a pinch of elaichi and it's close to a slightly earthy hot chocolate. Cold water is still the worst possible way to take it.

Will it make me gain weight, or lose weight?

Neither, directly. It is not a fat burner and it is not a mass gainer, whatever the men's forums say. What the trials show is lower cortisol, fewer cravings and better sleep, and those three together tend to move weight in the right direction over months, not weeks.

I'm a woman. Will this give me facial hair or mess up my hormones?

This is the question I get most, so here's the straight answer. The testosterone increases people quote come from male study groups. Reviews looking specifically at women haven't found the same rise in androgens, and maca, despite its marketing, doesn't appear to change reproductive hormone levels directly either. That said, if you have PCOS, a thyroid condition, or you take hormonal medication, please read the precautions below and speak to your doctor first, because ashwagandha genuinely does interact with thyroid hormones.

Isn't this a men's herb? I keep seeing it under men's health.

It gets shelved that way in Pakistan because of one narrow claim, and it has given a lot of people the wrong idea. Ashwagandha is a stress and sleep herb first, that's where nearly all the evidence sits, and those trials ran on men and women together. If you're a woman who has scrolled past this for two years assuming it wasn't meant for you, it is.

I felt gassy and had loose motions the first few days. Is that normal?

Fairly common, and almost always too much too soon. Drop back to half a teaspoon, take it with food, and build up slowly over two weeks. If it doesn't settle, stop using it & seek medical assistance.

Do I need to take breaks from it?

There's no strong evidence that you must. A sensible pattern lots of people use is eight to twelve weeks on, then two to four weeks off. The break is useful for a different reason than you'd think: it's the only way to find out whether it's actually doing something, which you can't know while you're still taking it.

How is this different from the asgand at my pansar shop?

Price, mostly and what you get for it. Loose asgand is usually whole plant: root, stem, often leaf, ground together, because leaf and stem add weight cheaply. It's scooped from an open sack, so you have no way of knowing how long it's been sitting there or what's been mixed in. Ours is Root-only + 3 roots blend + sealed packaging + controlled formulation + batch testing + no fillers.

Is it safe? What's actually in it?

Three ingredients: ashwagandha root, black maca root & unsweetened cocoa. No fillers, no bulking agents, no preservatives, no sweeteners, no artificial colours or flavours. Vegan and naturally gluten-free.

Precaution

Please don't take this if you are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding. Ashwagandha has a traditional reputation as an abortifacient & there isn't enough safety data.
  • Under 16.
  • Living with liver disease, or you've had liver trouble before. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported worldwide.

Please speak to your doctor first if you:

  • Have a thyroid condition or take thyroid medication.
  • Have an autoimmune condition — Hashimoto's, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Have or have had a hormone-sensitive cancer — breast, uterine, ovarian or prostate. Cancer centres advise caution with maca in these cases.
  • Take medication for diabetes or blood pressure.
  • Take sedatives, sleeping tablets or anxiety medication.
  • Are allergic to nightshades: tomato, brinjal, chilli, potato. Ashwagandha belongs to the same family.
  • Have surgery scheduled. Stop at least two weeks before.
